STAR WARS #42 - December 1980

More jedi training that was cut out of the movie.

Always nice to see an Al Williamson mushroom too.

STAR WARS #40 - October 1980

One of the bonuses of reading the comics adaptations of movies was seeing scenes and moments that were cut from the films late in the day.

STAR WARS #39 - September 1980

Wonderful artwork from Al Williamson and writing from Archie Goodwin as the comic begins adapting The Empire Strikes Back movie.

I'm going beyond my usual remit here as this panel is from one of my favourite comic pages...

STAR WARS #33 - March 1980

I like the effect being employed here to draw the lightsabre blade.

Luke Skywalker faces off with Baron Tagge, who was blind but had cybernetic specs ten years before Geordi on Star Trek: The Next Generation. When I was a kid, I thought Tagge was a legitimate badass. Years later, I see similarities to Elton John.

The Baron is one of the siblings of General Tagge:

Don Henderson: "Somebody in the hotel I was staying at offered me $2000 for my copy of the Star Wars script. As I growled at him in amazement, he took that as a refusal, or that he had offered too little and eventually went up to an offer of $5000! Sadly, as with all my used scripts, I had given it to my kids to scribble and draw on."
